What
is M.A.G.D.?
M.A.G.D.
designates advanced post graduate education in the practice of
general dentistry. A dentist with the initials M.A.G.D. following
his or her name is a Master in the Academy of General Dentistry
(AGD). There are fewer than one hundred masters in the state of
Maryland.
The
Academy of General Dentistry is the largest organization of family
practitioners in the country. The AGD monitors and approves continuing
education (CE) courses. Fellowship in the AGD is achieved when
five hundred hours of CE within different disciplines are completed,
and an examination has been passed. Mastership involves an additional
600 hours of CE within sixteen subject categories, each having
minimum requirements. Four hundred of these hours are participation
courses which require clinical proficiency of the M.A.G.D. candidate.
Dr. Michael Berger received his M.A.G.D. on July 15, 1995.
